As Jesus walked by the Sea
of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon who is called
Peter and Andrew his brother casting a net into the
sea; for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them,
"Follow me and I will make you fishers of all."
Immediately they left their nets and followed him.
And going on from there Jesus saw two other brothers,
James, the son of Zebedee and John, his brother, in
the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their
nets, and called them. Immediately they left the boat
and their father, and followed Jesus.

and gives opportunity for quiet reflection and spirit
to moved on/out/into the world to make a difference in
humanities search for peace.

Hatred is like rain in
the desert - it is of no use to anybody.
African saying.
A Special Place -
Galilee Peace Garden and Peace Pole
The presence of this Peace
Pole announces that this garden is a special place,
dedicated to peace on Earth. Our Peace Pole is only
one of four in all of Lake County. By planting a
Peace Pole here in our Peace Garden, we are linked
with people all over the world who have planted their
Peace Poles in the same spirit of peace. Every Peace
Pole proclaims the prayer, "May Peace Prevail on
Earth", in the language of the country and often
several other languages as well. The more than
200,000 Peace Poles around the world are on all
continents, in every country you can think of. They
are in simple places, such as churches and gardens,
and extraordinary ones, such as at the World Court at
The Hague, the United Nations, the Pyramids of El
Giza, Egypt, the North Pole in Canada, and recently at
the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics. Peace Poles are
promoting healing of conflict in places like Sarajevo
and the Allenby Bridge between Israel and Jordan.
Many political leaders, such as former U.S. President
Jimmy Carter and President George W. Bush, and many
religious leader, such a Pope John Paul 11, Mother
Teresa, and the Dalai Lama, have all dedicated Peace
Poles.

A Peace Pole is a handcrafted
monument that displays the message and prayer "May
Peace Prevail on Earth" on each of its six sides, in
different languages. The presence of a Peace Pole
announces a special place, dedicated to peace on
Earth. We, at Galilee, have installed a Peace Pole
with the message, "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in our
new Peace Garden, inscribed in the following
languages: English, Spanish, Pomo, Hebrew, Arabic,
Norwegian, Swahili, Chinese, Hindi, Gaelic, ASL (Sign
language), and German.
I wondered why somebody
didn't do something for peace....Then I realized that
I am somebody. Anonymous
